Frequently asked questions
Do you offer free funded hours?
Yes, but we are open all year so this offer is stretched, meaning the term time only funding of 30 or 15 hours per week is delivered as 22 or 11 hours per week over 52 weeks. It begins the term following yours child’s qualifying birthday.
Do I still have to pay if my child does not attend?
I’m afraid so! Fees are due in advance for every week that your child is due to attend including times when they may be ill, on holiday or in the event of unforeseen circumstances which may temporarily close the setting, such as heavy snow.
What are the child to staff ratios?
Birth to 2 years - 1 staff member : 3 children
2 years - 1 staff member : 4 children
3-4 years - 1 staff member : 8 children
Are all of your staff qualified?
All rooms or groups are led by a Supervisor and Deputy who hold a minimum NVQ L3, all other staff will be qualified to NVQ L3 or NVQ L2 standard.
We also run an apprenticeship training programme with all trainees working towards NVQ L2/L3, all trainees are supervised at all times.
All staff and trainees hold an Enhanced DBS (police check) and we insist on an above average number of First Aid qualified staff in our rooms at all times. Our Cook holds the relevant Food Hygiene qualifications.
What does my child need to bring to nursery?
Babies will need nappies, wipes, a change of clothes and formula/breast milk.
Older children will need a change of clothes (for accidents!) and clothing for all weather, such as a sun hat and sun cream or wellies and a warm, waterproof coat.
You will also need to bring medicines for conditions such as asthma or eczema but not medicines for when your child is ill, we don’t administer those and would expect any child who is unwell or who may be infectious to stay at home.
Does my child need to bring a packed lunch?
No, you don’t need to bring anything. All meals and refreshments are catered for by our resident Cook. Meals and snacks are prepared daily using good quality ingredients. Please see our imaginative Menu section for more information.
What happens if I’m late to collect my child?
We don’t want you to be late, we ask you to provide Emergency Contact details of those who can collect when you can’t. In fact we will charge a fee if you are late as we want to actively deter you from doing so, lateness compromises ratios and is unsettling for the children so we will encourage you to arrive on time, every time.
What sessions do you offer?
We don’t offer sessions but we do offer two ‘whole day’ options.
Full Day (9am - 3pm) or Extended Day (8am - 6pm) both for 52 weeks per year.
Please contact us for current prices.
We are closed on Bank Holidays, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Fees are payable for these days.
