Special Events

At Ingrebourne Day Nursery we place great importance on providing the children with special experiences either by visits to the nursery or by external trips.

External Trips

Ingrebourne Day Nursery

Our external trips can be quite big expeditions for such small people, for example we have visited Old MacDonald’s Farm where we had a wonderful day looking at the animals and enjoying a super picnic, or quite small such as a visit to the library to experience storytelling and learning how to borrow books as well as visiting the local supermarket to by ingredients for cooking.

One of our most popular trips was to B & Q where the children bought vegetable seeds for our growing project - where they will grow their own produce and cook it for tea once it has grown.  A full ‘beginning to end’ experience like this really enhances the children’s learning and it is wonderful to see how something so simple can help the children’s development in so many ways.

Even a trips to the local park to collect things for our nature table is made into a great adventure.

We have also had Wellgate Farm visit the nursery with a variety of animals and the children thoroughly enjoyed helping to run their own farm for a day.

A recent visit from Food Lab encouraged the children to learn about the benefits of fruit and vegetables and all of them really enjoyed making their own smoothies – this is something we will certainly bring to the curriculum on a more regular basis.

We have recently enjoyed visits from a Librarian, a Fire Fighter and a Dentist amongst others and of course we always celebrate numerous cultural festivals as the children love an opportunity to Party!

Safety first

Safety is always our first consideration and we only organise special events when there is an appropriate staff to child ratio in place.  Parents and relatives are always welcome to lend a hand and the children really enjoy someone they love being part of the experience.  We are also fortunate enough to have access to our own mini bus and use this to it’s full potential.
